Rep. Watson, Diane (D), 33rd District
“You might have heard their philosophical leader; I think his name is Rush Limbaugh. And he said early on ‘I hope that he fails.’ Do you know what that means? If the president, your commander-in-chief fails, America fails. Now, when a senator says that, ‘this will be his Waterloo,’ and we know what happened at Waterloo, then we have him and he fails. Do we want a failed state, called the United States? So remember they are spreading fear and their trying to see that the first president who looks like me fails . . .
It was just mentioned to me by our esteem speaker did anyone say anything about the Cuban health system? And let me tell you, before you say ‘oops, it’s communism,’ you need to go down there and see what Fidel Castro put in place. And I want you to know now that you can think whatever you want to about Fidel Castro. But he was one of the brightest leaders I have ever met.”

Ted Kennedy’s Memorial Health Act – Different Name, Same Crappy Bill
The left-wing elitists has went to a record low wanting to rename H.R. 3200 health care plan to the “Ted Kennedy’s Memorial Health Act,” anticipating that we will quiet down our cries against the government health plan. Can you envision just minutes after Ted Kennedy’s death, Nancy Pelosi and her supercilious elitists were behind closed doors, not to remember Kennedy’s service to America, but to plot a plan in encouraging Americans to support this bill that centers on his death? What kind of melancholic people are we dealing with here?
Nancy Pelosi, the majority house speaker, revealed to the American people the connection between the current health care plan proposal and Kennedy’s death:
“Ted Kennedy’s dream of quality health care for all Americans will be made real this year because of his leadership and his inspiration.”
Another liberal extremist, former vice president Al Gore, stated the following:
“Ted would want nothing more than for his colleagues to continue his life’s work and to make real his dream of quality health care for all Americans.”
Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius commented on MSNBC that renaming the bill would be a suitable homage, but it was more imperative to actually pass it. Attempting to force a reassessment from the greater part of Americans, Sebelius suggested, “If people are truly inspired in honoring his legacy, the best possible legacy is to pass health reform this year.”
Congressman Ed Markey pointed out, “Senator Kennedy’s spirit will infuse the Congress towards the goal of providing coverage for all those people who he cared for.”
However, Senator Orrin Hatch, a close ally to Ted Kennedy, was offended that the Democratic Party members were using Kennedy’s death as a platform in passing health care reform:
“Frankly, I’m getting a little bit upset at some of these people trying to take advantage of this and saying we now have to pass health care reform because of Ted. Well, Ted wouldn’t want it passed if it wasn’t good.”
Fastening a bill such as this on a deceased man is the most outlandish thing I have ever heard. Ted Kennedy had the best treatment with his health care coverage. I highly doubt you will see that kind of treatment in this bill. Folks, what you are seeing here is hypocrisy in action from our elected officials.
In the September 2009 edition of the Atlantic magazine, correspondent Conor Clarke supports the proposal of renaming the bill, contrasting this to the ironic renaming of today’s Washington Reagan National Airport:
“It’s not as if renaming the bill would be contrary to his wishes or in some sense ironic. (Like, perhaps, renaming a gigantic public airport after a man who fired thousands of air traffic controllers and favored limited government more broadly.)”
Well Mr. Clarke, that is unquestionably calling the kettle black, don’t you think? We are talking about a senator who was implicated of wittingly leaving a scene of a car accident and leaving a woman for dead. Did you fail to remember that fraction of Kennedy’s life? Reagan fired those air traffic controllers because they walked out when they had a “no strike” clause in their contract. I don’t recall him ordering anyone to drown these individuals.
Don’t get me wrong. Many of us have high respect for the late Ted Kennedy and his accomplishments in politics. However, no matter what the far left wants to label this bill, it is the same document a majority of Americans say needs to go in the dumpster. When you have a congress and a senate who rejects the idea of dropping their personal health care plan (paid for in full by the taxpayers, mind you) in favor of H.R. 3200, every American should question the trustworthiness of this bill. The message to all of the Nancy Pelosi’s out there is, “H.R. 3200 stinks to high heaven.”
Until a more compromising bill comes to the table, the majority will keep on the fight for their liberties, regardless what our elected officials want to call it. We will not give up our right to choose a suitable health care plan so doctors and nurses can service the millions who refuse to work or the millions who are here illegally at our expense. That is bottom line. We will not sacrifice our children’s pursuit of happiness as a result of more government spending. And we will not allow the government deciding who lives and who dies.
So go forward and name it the Ted Kennedy’s Memorial Health Act. Name it the Looney Tunes Health Act. I don’t care. What I do care is what many Americans demand – THROW THE BILL AWAY!
